Electrolyte drink
Basically this means if you are drinking water and don’t have the ions to create the electric charge, the water is going right through you and not getting absorbed and used in the body. This may be why you still feel thirsty. By replenishing electrolytes the water can be used properly by the body and get absorbed at a cellular level. This may make you not have to run to the bathroom right away and it will get your hydration back up to where it should be.
Great news!!!! You don’t have to drink that sticky sweet electrolyte drink you get from the store any more! Some of those drinks people think are healthy and that they do a lot of good for your body because they replenish your electrolytes. This is not necessarily the case because they are so full of sugar, corn syrup or sugar substitutes that your sweet taste buds don’t even know what to do with themselves. Not to mention that they will spike your blood sugar levels, throw your insulin into immediate action, and basically reek havoc with your system.
I figured, let’s make our own. It is really easy and can be done mostly with ingredients that you probably have in your pantry.
Here’s the list:
- Lemon
- Celtic sea salt
- Pure maple syrup or raw honey
- Water
That is it. Add the ingredients to taste, and you will be able to replenish your electrolytes when you have had a hard workout, been outside sweating or are just feeling dehydrated.
I used 16 oz water, the juice of 1 lemon, about 1/8th teaspoon of Celtic sea salt, 1 teaspoon of maple syrup. You could make a whole pitcher of this and keep it in the fridge for those hot summer days when everyone is out doing yard work or getting a good work out in.
